"Weapons of Mass Construction"
Likeable Creative worked with Mobile Crisis Constructions to create a bold new campaign to highlight the humanitarian charity’s important work in disaster recovery.
Mobile Crisis Constructions (MCC) deploy mobile brick factories into war zones and disaster areas to crush building rubble and recycle the material into interlocking bricks for rapid construction of shelters and critical infrastructure. MCC is currently being used in Ukraine to rebuild war-torn areas and is also ready for use in natural disasters.
Likeable Creative developed a poster and social media campaign to raise awareness for this breakthrough Western Australian technology. The creative work uses the headline ‘Weapons Of Mass Construction”, a twist on the ominous euphonism for bombs, ‘weapons of mass destruction’. The imagery evokes the visual style and compositional power of classic World War II recruitment posters.
“Those old recruitment posters were designed to motivate people and make them feel part of something bigger,” said Likeable Creative’s Ross Dungey. “We wanted to tap into that same emotional impact, but redirect it toward rebuilding instead of conflict.”
The campaign will be used across fundraising and advocacy channels, helping Mobile Crisis Constructions communicate the igenuity of its solution to governments, donors, and global partners.
“In crisis zones, speed and scale matter,” said Blake Stacey, co-founder of Mobile Crisis Constructions. “Our technology allows us to turn destruction itself into the raw material for rebuilding. Weapons of Mass Construction perfectly captures that idea-using the language and imagery of conflict to show that our real fight is for homes, infrastructure, and hope.”
